A stormy start!

Posted by in Voyage Blogs

With the wind howling and the rain persistent we set off from Opua wharf to start our adventure with eleven new trainees. We huddled away from the miserable weather around the saloon table where we got to know our new ship mates by playing the name game. Dividing into two teams we then introduced the team to the ship, above and below deck. With wet weather gear on we took advantage of the swell to enjoy a ride on the bopping bowsprit towards Orokawa Bay. Safely tucked away from the wind, we set our anchor to enjoy a nice hot soup for lunch with freshly baked scones.

With the rain still falling we used the time to do a few lessons on life at sea followed by some fun and games and some more lessons. Our new trainees are settling in well and we are looking forward to what the week has to bring. Goodnight!
