We awoke in Whangamumu Harbour at 0700 hours to an overcast and drizzly morning, yet this didn’t stop our keen trainees from plunging into the chilly waters. With chores out of the way and breakfast devoured, we boarded the dinghy to go ashore and explore the whaling station and waterfalls. With the wind picking up we weighed anchor and set sail back around Cape Brett. After a three hour sail, the rain lifted and we could see the islands of Okahu and Motuarohia where we changed course, struck our sails and motored to our night anchorage of Jacks Bay.
After anchoring the ship, Chaz, Tash, Te Aho, Connor, Phoenix and Te Marie all tried out the extreme version of our rope swing while Nia tried her hand at rowing the dinghy around the ship. After our evening meal we are engaged in a quiz night to see how much our new seafarers have learnt, will they surprise us?
