Once the boys and girls wiped away their tears from the farewells we set out for the high seas. And high the seas they were! With a one and a half meter swell rolling into Brampton reef, Elise, Cheyenne, Harold, Ginny, Levi, Jesse, Terri, Steven, Emma, Samual and Ashlyn all geared up their harnesses to meet the swell head on at the bow-sprit.
After rounding the Cape of Tapeka, our course turned for the sheltered waters that Roberton Island provided from the northerly swell. Wayne’s lunch of pumpkin soup and scones were ravaged down before we climbed to the top of the island lookout to get our first view of our new playground, the Bay of ‘many’ Islands!
From there Harold, Matiu and Samual had their first lesson in pulling anchor, shortly after the skipper ordered Man over-board drill. Once our ball and life rings were safely on-board we made our way to our overnight anchorage of Orokawa Bay.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings!
