Ahoy there Mateys, a lot has happened since our last blog. We left Orokawa Bay for Whale bay yesterday afternoon for a full on adventure filled afternoon. After anchoring in Whale Bay our dive team of Malin, TeRehia, Audrey, Genesis, Steve and Nick went to see what they could find. At the end of the dive they were joined by some locals, a pod of bottlenose dolphins, who swam with our divers for some time and came very close. A HUGE thrill for them all, our divers also returned with two crayfish, kina and a sack full of mussels. A seafood feast is coming soon!!
With the dawn this morning, a sea fog covered the bay, so our morning swim was very eerie, but after breakfast the sun came out and it looked promising. So it was off in search of more seafood, scollops, our new dive team of Rob, Kylie, Malin, Genesis, Audrey, Te Rehia and Richard hit the water and came back with a catch bag full. During our dive the weather had turned again and it was raining so a decision was made to motor to Whangamumu via Piercy Island (The Hole in the Rock). We all boarded the dinghy and drove through the ‘hole’ and in Cathedral Cave, where the swells were spectacular. Our anchorage is calm and peaceful and it should be great nights sleep with everyone very tired with todays adventures.
