Greetings friends and Whanau and welcome to new tales of high sea adventures aboard the R Tucker Thompson. We left Opua at 1130 and made our way towards Urupukapuka Island. On the way our new trainees got acquainted with the ship and the safety procedures as well as getting to know each other. We enjoyed a hearty soup for lunch in Paradise Bay where we decided to take advantage of the weather and make our way around Cape Brett to an anchorage at Whangamumu Harbour.
On the way we were followed by a group of dolphins as the trainees rode the bowsprit through the NE swell. We are now tucked away in Whangamumu where we are playing games and introducing them to their voyage manuals and life aboard the ship. Tomorrow we will be staying in Whangamumu where we are sheltering from the wind and exploring the area.
