Kia Ora Whanau and friends of the R Tucker Thompson. Today we left the safety of the Opua marina to embark on our journey with 12 new trainees. We started the day off by getting to know one another by playing games like the name game and blindfold races. We made our way to Whale Bay where we went through our safety drills, with an abandon ship drill and a man overboard drill, we are certain our new trainees are well on their way to becoming competent seafarers. As we wait for dinner our trainees are being introduced to their voyage manuals for the week and completing their first safety components.
We are staying in Whale Bay for the night where we are safely tucked away from the wicked Westerly wind, goodnight!
