Kia ora whanau from thy goodship to thy land lubbers…..
Today started with a refreshing 0700 swim followed with general chores and a breakfast fit for kings… As the dishes were underway the other trainees lowered the dingy, loaded it up with sports gear then all boarded the dingy for a Tucker sports day on the beach at Mimiwhangata…..
Upon arrival we where greeted by Chris the DOC ranger and his son, Ben who participated in our cricket match managed to bowl out Jackson, Joesph , Cole and Wayne so a group hui was held and we decided to ban him from bowling for the remainder of the match.
After cricket we all went for hikoi up to the summit of Waikahoa pa where we acknowledged our history and admired the defense of this ancient fortification… Then back to the ship for lunch, weighed anchor and set sail for Pararaunui point for a dive to collect some kina and koura for afternoon snacks…. we are now anchored in Whangaruru tonight hoping to make the journey back to the Bay of Islands with a fair breeze behind us…..
The ship is vibrant with laughter with trainee’s enjoying the company of their new friends all is well pomarie whanau……..
