Despite dire weather predictions we awoke to a very pleasant morning. Matiri was first in the water by a long shot this morning. After chores were done and breakfast was devoured we set sail towards Moturua Island. With main, fore and head sails set we enjoyed some fine sailing, until a 35 knot gust, ahead of a rain squal tested the trainees to their limits, luckily they came through and got the foresail down in time.
Arriving into the shelter of Army Bay we found our feet on firm ground and explored Moturua Island. Crayfish and snapper chowder filled our tummies before we set sail again for our night anchorage in Waipiro Bay which is a safe haven for our predicted strong westerly winds tonight.
