Kia Ora everyone!
Day one has been a busy and productive day. Leaving friends and whanau at Opua wharf, we sailed out into the bay heading for Moturoa Island. While we sailed along, everyone became more familiar with their home for the week, going over an orientation of the ship. After a yummy lunch of mac n cheese, we went ashore for a walk around the island- with plenty of groans heard coming up the hills.
Back on the ship and everyone got into the water for a swim and a swing, with ship mermaids Catalina and Kali first in and last out. Anchor up and sails up and we headed out in search of a night anchorage, with trainees learning the lines while we sailed along.
Tonight we’re anchored up at Parekura Bay, trainees playing cards and ukulele while we wait for a delicious smelling dinner of corned beef.
