YTH-1808 Wha Ra

Woke up this morning, in Whangaruru Habour with a sunny start to the day for a morning swim!  After our warm shower on deck we set to our morning duties which have become part of the daily routine.

Wayne cooked a big breakfast of scrambled eggs, beans on toast, with options of porridge and cereal and toast.  This set us up for the day!

Baily, Kate and Ngatai went to their anchor duties and assisted lifting the anchor.  We moved  location to Mimiwhangata Bay.  On the way we had a man overboard exercise after Baily lost his shorts, thank fully we did a good job and they returned on board.   Back in Waikahoa bay in blustery conditions it was good to get ashore and climb Tohumoana  loop track.  The walk was steep and muddy but rewarding once we reached the view point looking over the Poor Knights made it all worth while! Chocolate fish and  group photos were taken and we headed down the hill hiding from the rain in the bushes, with laughter all the way!

We returned back to the ship and enjoyed a yummy lunch served by ‘Cap Tim Cook’ enjoyed by all after working up a big appetite!  It didn’t take long for a burst of energy to appear again!   Gemma, Sihrene, Hannah, Bailey, Luke, Maz and Bridgette keen to go for a snorkel despite the weather of showers and occaisional  sun.

Kate, Ngatai, Daemon, Ivan and Santana stayed on the ship.  Muma Kate kept busy making sure towels were ready for her fellow trainees return whilst keeping an eye on the banana cake baking in the oven, prepared earlier by Sihrene, Gemma and Kate.  Ivan and Kate prepared the vegetables for dinner with lots of friendly chatter. A busy day for the trainees,  the less than edible kina the girls got replaced with Waynes catch of a nice snapper already in the lemon juice, the crayfish awaits a spare pot after Chynna finishes the boil up, the cake is iced. Yum.
