YTH 1812 Tahi ra

Ahoj from the R. Tucker Thompson. Day one is almost over and it’s been pretty chillaxed. After saying goodbye to friends and family, we hoisted the foresail and headed off on our adventure in the Bay. Bags were unpacked, lunch was munched and trainees were given an orientation of the ship as we motor sailed over to Urupukapuka Island.

Then we dropped the anchor in the flat calm of Akeake bay to go ashore for a walk. After some hills, some stairs, some more hills, some beaches and some rocks we made it back to the dingy and back on to the ship. Once on the ship, we hoisted anchor and headed off to our night anchorage at Putakokota Bay.

Anchor dropped again and some brave trainees were keen to attempt the Tucker challenge. Quintin, Guy, Kristin, Paris, Elliot, Chloe and Hemi all successfully completed the challenge, double thumbs up!

Now we are waiting for our dinner bubbling away on the stove, listening to the ukulele tunes and playing cards.

Po marie.
