Hello all and apologies if this tale of adventure doesn’t reach you tonight as we are anchored in Whangamumu tonight and our reception isn’t good. A dawn service at 0600 to remember the ANZACs and a minute’s silence and a few words was how we started the day. Our morning swim was in the rain, heaps of fun !!
With breakfast devoured our new navigators plotted the ship’s course around Cape Brett to Te Wi bay. We set off and had a great sail to ‘the Cape’ with heaps of fish schools seen. We anchored in Te Wi bay and Janna, Tegan, Kieran and Rob went snorkelling looking for crayfish, a few were seen but proved to be to elusive. Back on the ship it was a different story with a number of nice sized snapper caught, enough to feed everyone on board!! Looks like it will be fish and chips, and battered mussels for lunch tomorrow, yummo.
We motored into Whangamumu and set the anchor for the night, more swimming and swinging off the ship with Tayla pulling off a spectacular sideways cartwheel with a double twist, bet she can’t do it again, she has also put all the boys to shame by jumping of the rig higher than them. Competitions on !! A plan for a sail and another dive has been made for tomorrow and we may be anchoring in Mimiwhangata tomorrow night.
