And once again, we enjoyed a stunning day in beautiful Whangaroa Harbour. Today, we hiked the Wairakau track. It begins at Totara North, some climbing is involved at first, as well as crossing the stream a couple times – the track leads to Lane’s Cove (at the base of the Duke’s Nose track). Two hours of clambering in lovely scenery led us back to the Tucker.
We were rewarded with freshly baked bread (courtesy of Captain Steve) and crayfish chowder – can we say delicious? After lunch it was time for a bit of racing in the rowing dinghy, Little Tuck . The winners were Harry and Jayden – way to go team!
We then went to Stephenson Island for a bit of fishing and eventually sailed to Whangaroa’s Eastern Arm for the night. Life aboard is good.
