Grey skies but whatever the weather this trip, it doesn’t stop us. This morning we swam and completing our navigation lesson in the morning. Singing, guitar playing and rowdy games of cards filled in the time while Pania baked up a storm in the galley. Lunch was hot pumpkin soup and warm, cheesy scones – perfect for the rain. Then, as Tim predicted the weather changed with the tide at midday and we saw some blue skies.
We motored to Waewaetorea, a beautiful island between Urupukapuka and Okahu. Andrew and Davis were among few that climbed the summit but rewarded with views from the Hole in the Rock to the East and Russell and Kerikeri to the West. Back on the ship with time to snorkel through a archway on the coast.
All this time the secret of today being a birthday was kept very quiet but somehow the crew found out. Sarianna was surprised with birthday cupcakes, iced and with a candle to make a wish!
Tonight we are anchored in Paradise Bay. It’s raining again but we are snug inside our ship. Only two more days of our voyage left and it fair to say we are now friends and no longer strangers to each other or the sea. IMG_2248
