Kia Ora family and friends of the R Tucker Thompson.
Today we set out from Marsden Cove Marina with a new group of trainees. With the sun shining and not a cloud in the sky we made our way to the Hen and Chicken Islands to take advantage of the crystal blue waters. Along the way we gave our new crew an introduction to the ship and sea life. After a lesson on line handling we set the Mainsail and Foresail before we completed a Man overboard drill and an abandon ship drill.
After a tasty soup lunch we found a nice rocky bay to explore on the Hen and Chicken Islands where Ducati, Caleb and Sam went for a dive in search of some kaimoana. While the boys were diving, the others stayed behind on the ship to climb the rigging and help Mr Joe Brown bake some delicious afghan cookies. Our divers soon returned with their catch, kina, crayfish and more kina!
For the rest of the afternoon we sang songs, played games and took turns on the helm as we made our way into Tutukaka Marina where we are spending the night. Pomarie!
