A very fun filled yet busy day on board the good ship today, as the trainees got stuck into their book work after the usual morning routine was completed.
We split into 2 groups with crew member Wayne teaching one group, and crew member Pania taking another group up on deck.
After morning tea we did a “name the parts of the ship” challenge, with yummy custard tarts as prizes made by Skipper Steve. Holly got 4 in a row! She was a good shipmate though and shared them with her friends.
Lunch was spent on deck in the gorgeous sunny weather, followed by a small talk about maneuvers such as tacking and gybing. We set sail, and practiced our tacking, then gybed past Motuarohia and set a course for Oke Bay.
This is where we will spend the evening, with perhaps a bit of fishing!
