YTH2105 day tahi

Kia ora friends and family of the R. Tucker T,

Day 1 is coming to an end, just in time for the rain to settle in. Trainees have had a very busy day but seem to be in very high spirits.

After we left the wharf we set off into the Bay, heading straight for Moturua Island. On the way trainees unpacked their bags and got themselves comfortable for the week. We had a big lunch of macaroni cheese in preparation for our walk around the island. Denise wanted to swim to the beach and back again, but went for a compromise and swam off each beach we visited instead.

Te Ariki and Connor ran up the hills and still had energy to climb some trees.

Everyone did very well on the walk, making it the whole way in good time. Once back at the dingy, the rain prevented any games so we went straight back to the Good Ship.

Then Michelle, Renata and Ariana helped to haul the anchor and we went off to Orokawa for our night anchorage. On the way, we ran through our Man Over Board procedure. We still have Wilson on board so it was a successful drill!

Now we are waiting on our dinner, soaking up the warmth of the oven in the galley. Already lots of laughter and card games going on in the saloon.
