Kia Ora Whanau,
Our sailors were up and at em early this morning. Jumping off the deck into dreamy turquoise waters. As the sunrise hit waters of the beautiful Whangamumu harbor, we had the Bay completely to ourselves apart from the school of kingfish that hung out underneath our hull.
After breakfast and the crews’ chores, we set ashore to explore to ruins of the old whaling station. Our hike was cut short due to a track closure because of Kauri Die-Back. We ran with our Plan B and fired out some beach games on the adjacent beach.
Back aboard after a couple of hours, we had a weather briefing and looked at some navigation. Just after midday we hauled up anchor and set sail. We rounded the cape and got back into the bay clipping along with a steady north east wind abeam.
Our sailors climbed the rig as we reached back inside to the protected waters of the Bay. Our anchor dropped in Awaawaroa Bay just before the sunset. In our well sheltered bay for the night, Conor did a kara kia for the group just before dinner as we reflected on the day.
Now its time for a big slice of brownie to end the day.
