Kia ora whanau

Day 4 and what a day! Denise was first in the water again on our morning swim. After the swim, chores were done and breakky was devoured. Then it was time to go ashore to burn some energy!

Renata, Herbert, Te Ariki and Connor were lucky enough to see the rare Kakariki, released on to the island a couple years ago. We got to the bay called Maungahawea and stopped to play a couple big games of capture the flag. Then we gathered up our energy reserves and walked up the hill and back over to Army Bay for our 20 mins of silence.

Then it was two more hills to be tackled until finally we made it back to the dingy and the ship, just in time for a big old pot of pumpkin soup and scones for lunch.

Then we had Michelle, Brady, Te Ariki, George, Connor and Herbert on anchor duties, successfully bringing the anchor up in a stiff breeze.

Then it was time to raise the sails and make use of the 20 knot Westerly blowing into the Bay. Namu did an awesome job handling the halyards and sheets, and George learnt how to pull on a line.

Michelle and Ariana were tied together but managed to crack the code and release each other. Connor and Manaaki wanted to have a turn, and are still currently tied together even eating dinner tied together.

Now we are anchored up in Orokawa Bay, tucked up for the night. Dinner has been eaten and we are waiting on the dishes, which might take a while as there is a lot of talking going on!
