Kia Ora Whanau,
A great day one! This is an extra special voyage to us, it is the first voyage after our long maintenance period. The crew is so excited to be back out on the water.
The trainees waved their families goodbye, and off we went. As the nerves set, the fun started. Wayne didn’t wait, and we got straight into it. First thing, the trainees got hands on and pulled up the sails, even learned a couple of skills from Eloise and Ness.
As we sailed to Moturua Island, the trainees got to climb the rigging. At one point, we had all of our 11 amazing youth up the masts, it must have been quiet the sight for sailors passing by.
We arrived and anchored at Moturua Island, and took the dinghy to shore. We played a couple of games, then went for a walk, the view from the top was worth it.
It’s also a special day for Emma, who is turning 15 today. Happy birthday Emma!
When we got back onto the ship, we went for a quick swim. RJ and Alysha showed the team how to do Manu’s, and they did not disappoint. Everyone is getting along swimmingly, and have been amazing with the chores and tasks on board.
We crammed a lot into today! I’m sure we will all sleep well tonight, ready for another day of adventure tomorrow.
