YTH 2204 – Youth Voyage

Kia ora from the salty sea dogs.

What an epic 24 hours whanau. We woke to a delightful morning for a quick swim and speedy morning routine. At 9 we did a crew swap and all the trainees jumped onboard Lion NZ to experience the ways of a high performance sail boat, built for speed. (But nowhere near as pretty as our lovely waka ;)) It is such a cool boat with incredible history in the world of New Zealand sailing, so we are very lucky to have jumped onboard her for a wee boost around the bay. For a couple of hours the two ships sailed in convoy and it was MAGIC. We ended up at Motuarohia for lunch and the arvo, and had some good shore time. Omakiwi bay is our destination for the night, a ship of stoked but a bit weary sailors signing out.

Po Marie.
