The salty sailors of voyage 2208 say ahoy!

What a busy day. Trainees welcomed the Special Olympics whanau on to the ship for a day sail today, and they performed excellently as hosts. Te Tini gave an awesome briefing which set the tone for the day ahead. A walk up the hill at Motuarohia, followed by a swim and lunch on the ship with trainees proudly showing their new mates where to go and how to use the rope swing. We were rather becalmed and rained on, so we motored around the islands looking at the beautiful vista as the fog lifted. After we waved goodbye to the Special Olympics, trainees went for a hikoi around Kororareka and checked out the historic sights. We did a special stop in at Russell radio to have a yarn with Steve and to give him a slice of Tucker brownie. A well deserved dinner of pork roast and chips was devoured tonight and now there are the sounds of music coming from the dishes crew.
