YTH 2409 – Rā Tuarima – Day 5

Time to get up! Togs on and into the water! The morning breeze had a bite to it, on a positive note, it meant that the water was pretty warm to be fair. Again, it was straight into cleaning and breakfast. Once the sun finally poked its nose through the clouds we were off on our adventure, a morning walk into the bush. We walked to a high point and sat in the grass, looking down the coast line and toward the Poor Knights, what a spectacular view. We learnt a little bit more about each other and our future endeavours. It was now time to full our tummy’s with kai. We continued our journey back down to the ship. The tomato and vegetable soup with cheesy scones went down well after a long walk. We’ve been hearing about this challenge all week and it was time to step up. The Tucker Challenge! We suited up in harnesses and climbed up the rigging. We also learnt how to drive the tender and sail Little Tuck till sunset. What an amazing achievement today. We are now all settling down having a tasty boil up for dinner. Tonight we look to play a few ship games and a little bit of down time. What a wicked day! Tomorrow we take over the ship and continue our voyage back to the Bay of Islands. Until then. Mā te wā.
