YTH2414 – Day 2 – Rā Tuatoru

A calm, windless, bright, sunny morning dawned on us with great contrast to the windy wildness of the night. Everyone plunged over the side for an early morning swim that got us all energised for getting straight on with our morning cleaning chores. Arihi cooked up a hot feed and after the dishes were done we all practised climbing in the rigging. We set sail mid morning with Madeline at the wheel and Liam in charge of navigation, the mainsail watch team having picked the skippers brains for navigational tidbits.

we sailed easily in light winds, drifting through a lovely lunch of hot soup and scones, after poking our nose out into the left over big swell of yesterday we dropped the anchor in Army bay and went for a hike up to the old army watch post on the hill.

Nics got us for dinner this evening, and all are excited about heading back ashore after dark to see if we can spot a few kiwi!
