this morning started with a splash! Trainees and crew alike took turns jumping over the side in the early morning sun. As soon as everyone was warm and dry we all got stuck into our daily chores, some of the team scrubbed the decks others made sure the cabins we’re clean.
Helping out Project Island Song with some of their environmental work out on the islands was next in the day, we quickly moved the ship over to Urupukapuka island to meet up with them. Heading into the bush to check monitoring tubes for the presence of giant Weta!
Swimming at the beach after coming out of the bush turned into an adventure, a pod of dolphins came straight up to us and frolicked around the group in waist deep water. The only thing missing from the trip so far, was sailing! Easy to fix this though, soon as lunch was done, the team were on deck and learning the ropes. Sails were soon set and we spent the last of the afternoon sailing easily through the islands of the bay. We’ve dropped anchor for the night in Orokawa, a great place to sit out the strong northerly winds we can expect over night. Sausages and mash are being served now, good night folk
