Day 5, we spent our morning in the safe and calm anchorage hiding from the wind and rain, splitting into our 3 watches we took part in a Triathlon of challenges, looking after a egg who would take the leap of faith later in the day, building towers out of little material and having a Tucker baking competition. After our challenges and everyone full from trying all the baking, it was time for some of the trainees to brave the showers and complete the Tucker challenge, climbing up and out to touch the end of the yards. With the evening approaching and the wind settling down we all sat down and voted the positions for the trainees take over of the ship, their first challenge was to be a night sail. Lifting anchor and heading for Te Pahi island. The trainees handled the ship well in the dark getting us to anchor smoothly.
Day 6: The trainees first full takeover day started with a surprisingly warm morning swim, after that we all sat down and discussed what we wanted to achieve for the day. We decided we would go out and test our sailing skills making our way towards army bay. Arriving there the trainees fired up the bbq and cooked us all a tasty lunch, having digested lunch we all headed for the beach making our way towards the army bunkers and enjoying the view and having some quiet time at the lookout, before heading back to the beach to play some games. Making our way back to the ship we were greeted with the incredible smell of roast pork being cooked in the oven. We are all enjoying a dessert reflecting on our time here and preparing for our last night on the ship, looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Until then.
