Ahoy from the Tucker Thompson
Our morning started off different to the rest we all woke up at 0600hrs for an early morning sunrise sail out to Tikitiki Island (Ninepin) which everyone really enjoyed along with a hot chocolate in the hand. Once the sun abundant we tacked around and made our way back into the shelter of the bay. Along the way we did our morning duties and had some breakfast. We then carried on with our passage towards Rangihoua (Marsden cross). Upon arrival we dropped anchor and went for a quick dip in the ocean followed with a class about navigation – learning how to plot courses and learning about the chart- while some trainees helped to prepare lunch. After we enjoyed some delicious homemade PIZZAS! Made by the crew and some of the trainees. With our stomachs full we decided to have a little siesta and save some energy for our walk later on in the day.
Life jackets on and in to the tender we made our way ashore to Marsden Cross and enjoyed a lovely walk through the interpretative trail learning about the history of the land and people. After we made our way back down to the beach, enjoyed some free time on land and made our way back to the ship.
Anchor up and we motored around the corner up to Te Puna Inlet to Chynna Bay. We plan to head ashore for a camp fire, music, laughter and a few games of spotlight. We are all looking forward to it and for what tomorrow brings.
