Sales & Administration Support

Join the Tucker whanau

The R. Tucker Thompson Sail Training Trust invites applications from candidates interested in delivering our kaupapa Learning for Life Through the Sea.

Are you a smart administrator with a heart for great customer service, looking for a part-time summer role? We might have just the thing, here in the Bay of Islands!

The R. Tucker Thompson is Northland’s very own tall ship; a traditional gaff-rigged top’sl schooner based in Ōpua and held in charitable trust. The mission of our organisation is to empower Northland youth to live rewarding lives. During winter months our ship takes rangatahi or young people on 7-day youth development voyages to deliver on that mission.

In summer we offer day sails and sundowners for visitors to the Bay of Islands. This is where we need you! Our summertime commercial activity raises crucial funds to support our winter youth programme=, so it’s important to us that we provide amazing experiences to our visitors.

You will be the first point of contact for our customers, manage bookings, sales, invoicing and other administrative tasks. If you are detail-oriented, organised and get a kick out of helping people have an awesome holiday, we want to hear from you. You would need to be ready to laugh a lot, have fun on our ship and work with lots of great people. It’s rewarding work, full of variety and for an exceptionally good cause.

This role is a job share, with total hours of 56 per week split across two people. Days and number of hours are negotiable, although some weekend work is expected
