Our visit to Whangarei 2022

The Good Ship and her crew have been lucky to spend this past week in Whangārei. We enjoyed 3 days in the beautiful town basin and 3 days sailing out of Port Nikau, showcasing the R. Tucker Thompson. We met with many different groups and wonderful people – we loved every minute of it.

Thank you to Whangārei Marina and Port Nikau for hosting us. Nga mihi to our sponsors, donors and supporters who visited us. Thank you to all those who stepped on board for a cuppa or to sail with us; we loved hosting the pre-school pirate party, many family and friends, several school visits, sharing fresh scones with local council, Northland Inc, the wonderful Northland Lion Clubs, Sea Scouts, Bennett and Associates and her worship the Mayor Sheryl Mai. We were grateful to connect with our special friends from the Spirit of NZ, our extended tall ship family.

Our mission is connection, our kaupapa in whanaungatanga. It was our absolute pleasure to share our story as well as hear your tales of connection to our special waka.

Nga mihi nui Whangārei, we are still buzzing, and we will be back!

If you’d like to continue your support, we resume summer sailings on the 22nd November, come sail with us and enjoy a great day out.
