YTH-2103 Wha Ra

Kia Ora from the R Tucker Thompson

Another awesome day full of wind and activities.

Our morning started off with a morning swim followed by duties and breakfast.

Afterwards we decided to head ashore inside Whangamumu harbor, where we all went for a explore around the rocks and up to an old whaling station.

We then made our way back to the ship for a little pool party, some soup and freshly made focaccia for lunch!

Once dishes were done, we raised anchor, raised sails, and set a course back to the bay of islands (managed to reach speeds of up to 8kts!).

Along the way we had hot chocolates with homemade biscuits. We then followed some more classes covering navigation and knots.

After a few hours we arrived at the bay and did a man overboard drill whilst under sail.

With our dummy back on board, a quick visit from some dolphins and a beautiful sunset we headed into Putakokota Bay where we will be spending the night.

We have just had some vege curry for dinner and are stowing the ship for a good night’s rest.

Overall, another awesome day on board the tucker. Lots of teamwork and leadership from all our trainees.
