YTH 2111 – Day 4

Kia Ora Whanau,

Tucked up in Opunga Bay, it is fair to say we had a cozy day aboard. With the South Easterly winds howling through, it did not deter our young sailors to jump in for a dip this morning.

We stayed put for the day, working through some of the theory based lessons with the crew. The trainees learned about weather, navigation, and buoyage…. equipping them for the big day of sailing that lays ahead tomorrow.

Multiple trainees helped in the kitchen and some delicious kai was whipped up, including some good hearty baking. We stayed entertained by introducing some tucker challenges, quizzes, and group games.

When it started to get stuffy below the whole ship mustered up some reserve courage to go for a late evening, stormy swim. Revitalized, the trainees tucked up once again, milo in hand, and watched an old sailing movie.
