Another epic day in the bay! We woke up to a stunning sunrise in Wairoa Bay, we found our togs and jumped in the tide for swim number one of the day! The water was refreshing and clear; although it doesn’t sound like it, it was a great way to start the day. Clean and ready for the day we tackled our chores before breaky.
We were stoked to start learning to sail with basic commands: Sweat and tail, make fast and hold. We set sails and headed south, plan A turned into Plan B and then we rolled out Plan C. Captain Wayne tells us this is how is goes when you are rolling with the wind and weather. Wyatt took the helm and sailed us across the Bay while Wayne told us the history of the islands and the area. A few rolly waves kept Abbey on her toes in the galley but we all enjoyed soup and pasta for lunch at anchor.
A team went diving and collected kina and oysters and saw some crays and rays. Crystal clear waters made for amazing vis and we had some very happy Trainees. Afternoon tea was banana cake on deck and back to the beach for a walks and reflection time.
Dinner was Tucker Fried Chicken, a mean coleslaw and mashed potato and gravy. Finger lick’n good. Lights out, big sleep, game on for tomorrow’s adventure.
