Kia ora friends and Whanau,

Another day on the Good Ship. We had a well deserved sleep in this morning, after our swim and chores we went straight into lessons. Ness taught the trainees the basics of positioning using co-ordinates and passage planning. Wayne did a deep dive on weather patterns and cloud types and how they work in Te Taiao, while El explained the rules of the sea.

Ceason helped El make a yummy snack for their trip to shore, and Emma went up on the rigging and finished the Tucker Challenge, go Emma! Then the trainees went to land with Ness and El, they played moon ball, capture the flag, and cat and mouse. When they got back to the Good Ship we had visitors, our friend Dave delivered six beautiful snappers for us.

As the sun set, we headed over to Paroa Bay for a sail and dinner. Mercedes has been learning the ukelele, with Kate singing along. The trainees are quickly getting the hang of the ship, and spending quality time together. Sail day is quickly approaching when the trainees are going to take over and run the ship. We think they’re going to smash it! Check in tomorrow for another update – over and out.
