YTH – 2306 Ra Tuarua – Day Two

Kia ora,

What an epic day! After a big hearty breakfast we set off on an adventure to Urupukapuka Island. We played a bunch of beach games and started to hike up the trails to check out the old Pa site. On our way down we decided that the wet ground made for a perfect slip and slide, so we set a mission to see who could slide the furthest. After sliding we checked out the bird watching hut and saw Tui and Saddle Backs hanging out in the native trees. Andre cooked us a delicious soup for lunch which fuelled us for our climbing lessons up the rigging and for the big sail to Marsden Cross. Once we anchored we all jumped into the tender to explore a waterfall we had sailed past previously. We then set off to learn more about the history of the Bay of Islands. We are now eating rice pudding for dessert and look forward to another big day ahead.
