YTH-2310 – Ra Tuarima – Day Five

Kia Ora Whanau,

A crew perspective blog for you all today.
This weeks voyage was focused on leadership and our rangatahi were chosen by their schools for this voyage to expanding on their already amazing skills.

The trainees were given the mission that on day 5 (today) that they would take over the ship and be responsible for sailing and hosting and keeping busy a group of people from the Special Olympics Clubs around Te Taitokerau.

The trainees absolutely nailed it today and the crew are all so proud and impressed with their hard mahi today and in the days leading up to today.

We started our day picking up our guests at the Russell Wharf and set sail for Motuarohia Island. On route our rangatahi taught their passengers how to set sail, how to climb the rigging and all about ship life. Anchored up for lunch we went for a hikoi to the lookout and had a big swim in the sun, followed by an afternoon sail back to Russell. We put our sails up for the third time today and made our way back to Motuarohia island for a stunning night time anchorage.

Well done voyage 2310 Rangatahi
