Well whānau, sorry this is late but our last full day together has been a big one.
The trainees took over the ship today and nailed it. Captain Noah and First Mate Deltah ran a well organised ship full of willing and able hands. They took us from Paradise Bay, Urupukapuka, around to Waewaetorea and the Taniwha Cave for a last adventurous snorkel. Cooks Sarah and Cas fed us all lunch before some had a go at fishing in the beautiful passage between the islands. Then we upped anchor and headed across the Bay to the shelter of Rangihoua Bay. The team set all the sails and put in a couple of tacks in a valiant attempt to make the most in dying wind. This was a great example of the enthusiasm they’ve shown for learning the ship all week.
Upon arrival and some more fishing and a bit of arts and craft time, we were treated to a had a big roast dinner made by Nic. This was followed with sticky date pudding! Somehow the team managed to move themselves to shore after this and are just coming back from a last game in the dark there. Soon we will have our final nightly rounds talking about our daily highlight, challenge and gratitude as well as goals for once we get home. Then we will all no doubt be knocked out for a good last sleep onboard.
We are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
Lots of love and safe travels,
Us
