YTH 2419 – Rā Tuawhā – Day 4

Another glorious day began with a refreshing dip in the water followed by chores and breakfast. After learning our sail stations we lifted anchor and headed up the river towards Opito Bay for a nice calm sail. We tacked back after the wind died down and headed to the Black Rocks, we found some pretty cool rocks there. After our explore it was time for lunch, a creamy mustard pasta, so good. The days getting away on us and we’ve got a bit of distance to cover so off we went toward Motukokako (Hole in the Rock), once there we loaded 2 groups of 6 trainees into the tender and went through the Hole in the Rock, we saw a work up of fish and penguins. Tonight we will be anchoring up in Whangamumu next to the old whaling station. Once there we look forward to lasagna for dinner, heading ashore to check out the ruins and possibly a game of spotlight later tonight. Another big day today. We are looking forward to exploring Whangamumu over the next few days. We will keep you all posted. Until then. Mā te wā.
