YTH 2507 – Rā Tuarima – Day 5

Day five, here to thrive! Another beautiful sunrise and set with so much in-between.With a swim and a feed and dishes all clean, up went the anchor, the climbers and sails, traveling to a place with more explore worthy trails. The trainees are taking well to their stations, the main the fore and the head sails, the trainees no longer moving like snails. The enthusiasm is growing and through their singing it’s showing.

“Lunch time!” Creamy bacon spaghetti was a tasty treat, all the trainees were keen to eat. The sail was a chance for the trainees to continue bonding with each other and progressing in their knowledge of the ship. Reaching Tutukaka we dropped the anchor, admiring the beautiful new spot. “Who wants to swim?” Manus, backflips and bombs, down rained the trainees from the rigging and rope swing, immersing themselves in the new environment. Out of the water and onto the tender, we piled onto the beach. Through songs, steps and stones, we wound our way along the trail to the lighthouse and a 360° view. What a sight it was, and just in time for the rain to wash away the sweat on our descent. Our pockets weighed down by sea glass, shells and stones, we returned to the mighty Tucker to get dry and warm, with hot chocolates and bangers and mash. Our apple crumble desert is steaming away in the oven for homey warm evening.

Thanks for checking, on behalf of the trainees and crew, we’re wishing you all a great evening!
