YTH 2508 – Rā Tuatoru – Day 3

Day 3, A perfect still morning greeted us at Whagamumu. A few brave trainees got straight into their wetsuits ready to hop in and collect some Kai Moana for all, while the others jumped in for their morning swim and began the daily chores, just as breakfast was being served the diving crew returned with plenty of kina and even crayfish for all to enjoy, yum! We all hoped in the tender after breakfast making our way to the shore and heading on a hike to another beach around the peninsula, where we played an exciting game of capture the flag before heading off and exploding some of the rock pools and surrounding area. The delicious smell of fried rice greeted us as we made our way back to the ship. Straight after lunch it was time to lift anchor and set sails as we made our way out and around the hole in the rock back towards the shelter of Urapukapuka bay, the waves made for some great bow sprit riding with almost the entire group out there at points, being dunked in the swell. Currently sitting in the stunning Paradise Bay our anchorage for the night, looking forward to our lamb dinner and this evenings activities!
Until tomorrow.
