Ahoy friends and whanau,
Day 1 is almost complete and its gone so quickly! We boosted off into the bay, had a mean lunch of mac and cheese and became oriented with the ship. Once dishes was completed by our lovely volunteers- Petra, Sahara and Tobi- we went ashore at Motuarohia/Roberton Island for a hikoi up the hill. Josh boosted up so fast we didn’t even see his feet touch the ground. Looking out at the beautiful 360 degree view, we did our first 20 minutes of silence.
Then back to the ship, we hoisted anchor and headed off to our night anchorage at Orokawa. Now we are all tucked up out of the wind, apart from the crazy crew- Tobi, Sahara, Petra and Vaughan who are going for a swim! Certainly not for the faint hearted. Everyone else is on deck checking out the beautiful sunset and the moon peaking out from between the clouds. Big pot of chilli con carne for dinner, wahoo!
