This morning we woke up bright and early to see our new beautiful anchorage that we sailed into in the dark last night. Unfortunately our wonderful Captain Frank was feeling unwell and decided to head back to the mainland. After saying our sad goodbyes and well wishes we headed to the beach at Otaio Bay and started our land mission with some bird watching. We saw heaps of saddle backs and tui and a few who watched the swamp even spotted a pateke! Then we went for a hikoi up to a stunning cliff view and did some painting and silent time.
Soon we were back on the ship and meeting our new temporary Captain Rangi, who got us out for an afternoon sail and prepared us for sailing the ship by ourselves tomorrow. Rangi couldn’t stay so Captain Terry is on his way to look after us for the rest of the voyage. We have stepped up and made a delicious spaghetti bolognaise for everyone!
