YTH2305 – Tuatahi rā – Day One

It didn’t take long after we left the wharf for us to begin our sailing adventure! With the engine off and a following wind we headed around Tapeka and soon everyone was harnessed up and having a go climbing up the rigging and out on the bowsprit. As we got closer to our anchorage we got more acquainted with our ship and got our bags all unpacked. Not long after dropping the hook at Waiwhapuku Bay we took our little dinghy into shore for some games on the beach and a run around in the grass. After burning off some of our energy we arrived back on the ship in time for nachos for dinner, yum! We are now beginning to write our voyage logs and hopefully do a little stargazing before an early bedtime so we can be up early for a dawn service up at the WW2 observation point close by.
