YTH2309 – Rā Tuarima – Day Five

Kia ora whānau,

We are currently sailing through a patch of reception as we glide along the western side of Rakaumangamanga, Cape Brett, after a couple of lovely evenings in Whangamumu harbour. We have had an active couple of days, yesterday exploring the historic ruins of the old whaling station and a nearby mystical creek filled with gleaming waterfalls and a freshwater swimming spot. That afternoon was filled with underwater exploration seeing an array of fascinating sea life. Soon after a few of our expert fishermen went out to drop some lines in a secret spot, to return with some mega sized snapper to share with everyone. Meanwhile on the ship, they were getting creative, with painting, reading and flax preparation going on. Today we are buzzing off of seeing dolphins and we are getting ready for some home made fish and chips for lunch as we enter Oke Bay
