YTH2315 – Rā Tuatahi – Day One

Today, we set the sails as we waved goodbye to our whānau. We headed out past Ta Peka where we were met by rolling swells, which made unpacking our bags an interesting challenge, and the whole time we were surrounded by the aroma of Tom’s homemade Mac n Cheese. After we munched on some lunch we anchored up at Motuarohia and went ashore to explore. We played some games and went for a hikoi to an amazing lookout. Up there, we looked to the horizon and beyond and started to think about our goals for the week, then there were rock pools that needed to be looked at. As the sun set and the moon began to rise, we set sails once again towards Opunga Cove where we are safely nestled in for the night.
