Kia ora whanau, day 1 is almost over and what a big day it has been. After leaving the dock in Opua, we set sail and went out into the vast playground of Pewhairangi. We had lunch underway, enjoying the beautiful calm weather. We took a turn into Motuarohia and dropped the anchor. Looks like a perfect place to spend our first night. Trainees were then taken through an orientation before we all went ashore and played some games on the beach. Then we retraced Captain Cook’s steps by walking up the hill to get a better view and so trainees could set their sights for the week. We did some silent time, looking out over the beautiful views and listening to the birds and the waves on the cliffs down below.
Now some trainees are having a quick sunset swim in the glassy calm before we have our yummy first dinner- nacho’s! Po marie
