YTH2317 – Rā Tuarua- Day Two

We dove head first into adventure today starting with our first morning swim! It was super fresh and had us ready to move our Tinana into action as we soon after landed at Homestead Bay on Moturua to do some bird watching and learn about some of its historically prominent sites. We all completed a full circumnavigation of the island and by the time we returned we were ready for another swim before lunch! After a munch we learned how to handle the lines on the ship, then we put our theory into practice and set sail into the gusting breezes. We practiced a few tacks and gybes, before jumping in our harnesses and getting more familiar with the rigging. Soon after we scooted through the narrow Albert Passage and around into our nighttime anchorage Oke Bay. Before dinner we took the tender into the beach for some more beach games and sand sculpting. We were lured back to the ship by the smell of butter chicken wafting through the bay, and now with full bellies and tired bodies we are ready to settle into our evening
