YTH2402 – Rā Tuatahi – Day 1

Today we left the wharf and our families straight into a nice southerly to sail all the way down the river and out into the Bay. Great start! We did name games, safety talk and had lunch just as our playground for the week opened up before our eyes. Out of the wind, in the saloon we got to experience being below with a good heel on as nice gusts came through. We got a few things unpacked but sailing was too good to miss today so we’ve focussed on that more. The team is a lovely bunch bonding quickly and well. They pulled off a good couple of tacks on their first day out. Crew and captain are impressed. We are heading towards Waewaetorea island tonight for further orientation and dinner! Hei āpōpō 🙂

(Photo: happy lot that gathered themselves at the bow when asked for team photo during sail. Will upload in better wifi)
