What a great bunch of people! We started the day in the dark with our morning swim with everyone getting to watch the sunrise while they procrastinated getting in. After that we learnt about our watches for the week, the people who we do chores with.
Following breakfast we continued learning about the ship doing engine checks and readying the anchor. Then we set sail! With a focus on working as a team we got 5 sails set quickly and we took off, racing out of Oke bay and all the way across to the western side of the bay. We tacked shortly after lunch and went back across to the east where we anchored up at Moturua island. This is where we got to go ashore for the first time and are now heading out on a kiwi walk to hopefully spot one of the elusive birds in the wild!
