Today was awesome! We started off with our morning swim before getting ourselves ready for Project Island Song. Today’s challenge with the foundation was planting flax. After a big breakfast of porridge and spaghetti we cleaned our bags and shoes ready to head to shore. At Urupukapuka Bay we met with our guides who had over 100 flax seedlings for us to plant. This effort is targeted at recovering Urupukapuka islands native vegetation and wildlife.
After a successful mission we returned to the ship for a swim and some lunch. Following lunch we got immediately into setting sail as we had a journey ahead of us and a tight schedule to keep. Unfortunately the wind was out of breath and we had to motor sail all the way over to Waitangi ready for the Matariki celebrations tonight. Our chef for the afternoon treated us to some apple and white chocolate muffins which we demolished! Now we are all eagerly awaiting dinner and the fireworks to come later tonight.
