Kia ora friends and Whanau of the R tucker Thompson
After an aborted take-off due to a minor technical issue, we manage to make our way out and finally set sails. Sunshine and wind made the perfect combo onward our night anchorage spot, Paroa bay just on the other side of Russell. Shalom has been steering all to way. Trainees has been split onto two groups, port and starboard and after that, the classic safety introduction briefing took place.
Anchor is dropped at Paroa bay, and we all went ashore for an exploration walk and a beach cleaning session.
While a delicious lasagna is being cooked by one of the the crew, every single trainee had the chance to climb up the mast and even some of them has already completed the tucker challenge. It consists of climbing up to the middle yard and then walking all the across to the very end. Horatio, Lilly, Toby, Olivia, Geraldine, Jimmy, Tearohanui and Te Ngahere were the courageous ones to make it touch the end.
Everyone seems very happy and grateful to be part of this awesome unique experience, and they are all bonding together so well.
